I went to bed early, after they cleaned my room ( the Housekeeping manager asked if everything was ok so I told him the room had not been cleaned the previous day ). The lemon mint was like mouthwash ( they have me lime and soda and removed the charge) the food took 30 mins and then they delivered the main course while I was eating the starter. I ordered in advance and then when I took my seat they gave me a menu and asked for my order again. As a diabetic I need to eat at regular intervals so I took 2 hard boiled eggs and two hash browns and walked out without paying, Later I went to the Indian restaurant but tried to order from the international menu in the hotel restaurant and half the dishes were unavailable. I arrived for breakfast at 715 am to be told it was not ready and to "sit there and wait 10 mins". On New Years day things went further down hill. I had to go to 3 tables to find salt, pepper and serviettes. The next day I went for breakfast and there were no mugs and I burnt my hand on the coffee as the paper cups were too small for the amount of coffee dispensed by the machine. Next was the Spa where I had a fabulous massage from Ricky. The first breakfast was great and the waiter also served coffee and snacks in the lobby and asked me to write him a Trip advisor review and mention his name! I had one lunch in the Indian restaurant which was also great as I pre ordered - the food was amazing there and the service excellent. He also called our room to check everything was ok as did the housekeeping manager and someone else ( I was having a nap so did not answer). Mr Shafi gave us directions to a nearby Korean restaurant which was excellent and to shops to buy a shaver blade. Big floor to ceiling windows, view of Etihad museum and the fireworks on NYE, great bathroom, fridge, safe etc. The room was amazing ( especially after 2 weeks in the cramped old rooms at IBIS Al Barsha.
I arrived from Ibis Al Barsha and as the receptionist was busy Mr Shafi introduced himself and checked me in, upgrading me to a nicer room and arranging coffee and water while the room was made ready ( the hotel was full and I arrived early so no problems there). Or just lounge on the gorgeous local beaches.
